Job Description

Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN) will provide comprehensive nursing care on a 24-bed adult medical-surgical unit during day shifts. The role involves assessing patients, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and collaborating closely with ancillary nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team to maintain high standards of professional nursing practice. A minimum of six months of medical-surgical experience is required.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement total nursing care plans based on patient assessments and nursing diagnoses.
• Provide direct patient care to adults on a medical-surgical unit.
• Collaborate with ancillary nursing and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care delivery.
• Maintain professional nursing standards and comply with clinical policies and procedures.
• Monitor patient progress and report changes to the appropriate team members.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of practice.
• Minimum of six months experience in a medical-surgical nursing setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with adult patient populations in a hospital setting.
• Comfort with electronic medical records and documentation systems.
• Prior exposure to interdisciplinary team collaboration.

Special Considerations:

• Work is performed on a 24-bed adult medical-surgical unit.
• Day shift hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 5:1.

Scheduling:

• Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Shift assignments based on unit needs and staffing requirements.
